balancing and prioritizing...a continuous effort

okay...i need to carve out some time to get some baking done, otherwise these babies will be tossed in the freezer along with the other black bananas that are kicking around waiting to be used.

my plan to place a few things in my neglected etsy shop this week is not going to happen. i am not in the right frame of mind for it mostly because i got a little side-tracked with topics and issues relating to the continuous cutbacks on public school funding.

i regularly attend my son's school PTA and Student Site Council meetings...and let me just say it literally breaks my heart when i sit in and hear the concerns of the parents, teachers and staff. I feel as if the public schools are being stretched to their limit, and ultimately the students will be the ones who pay the price. There will be hard decisions to make in the coming year...

On a lighter note, next week i'll be busy doing art docent and working for the school's big fundraiser/auction...but i'm 95% positive that I'll be able to at least list a couple of things in the shop...so stay tuned!

i miss you studio

hoping i can get back to doing a little studio work. my goal is to list a few items in my etsy shop this week since i have these things just collecting dust while i keep waiting for my so called "collection" to form;) sigh...ebb and flow.

c'mon...seriously??

i didn't plan on popping in here to start this week with such a downer topic...but it's confusing and disheartening for me when i see the same bloggers who complain about other bloggers/sites using their images and content...but turn around and do the same thing???

of course it's a hunch of mine that permission of image use was not granted...mostly because the image that i see used is from a well established professional photographer (whose work i've been a fan of for many years...hence the emotional rant here) and i'm skeptical she would be okay with it...but who knows, i could be wrong...i've been wrong before! seriously though...this topic hits a nerve of mine and i think it is only getting worse. it's such a confusing time...

again...sorry for the neg post... but i really needed to vent a little.

have you ever been here? it's one of those places where you find yourself walking around and are in awe and amazed that in this day in age a place like this can even exists. all i have to say is that the city of berkeley is so cool.

No computer:(

My computer's hard drive crashed...ugh! Such a bummer because i've been looking forward to continuing working on some stuff in the studio. I'm going to try to make the most of it though and attempt to work on things un-computer related. I guess that's it for now. Happy valentine's day in advance.

2012 lunar festival

a fun event last week at my son's school. above is an image of the balloon lanterns being lit at the end of the evening. (how can you not love that heart lantern??)

this week is spotty in regards to studio work. it's going to be a busy week for me at my son's school with 2 field trips, a school celebration, plus another art docent presentation at the end of the week. i am getting used to the ebb and flow of life around here...and it's starting to grow on me.

i keep having to remind myself that productivity for me is not the goal. ironically, when i do this my creativity seems to flow better and i'm able to think much more clearly. it can be frustrating at times, but generally speaking slow and steady seems to work for me.
