here is a rough prototype of something i've been wanting to make for this specific image i took last year. the title of the image is "pensive santa." i made these type of ornaments years ago as favors for my wedding. it was fun to revisit making these again, with a little refining this second time around.
if i can manage to make a few that i'm happy with, i will put a few up in my neglected etsy shop.
i'm always a little sad after the thanksgiving weekend is over. i feel as if my favorite season has come to a close...and there's a frenzy over the next few weeks in anticipation for the next holiday.
i am thankful though. thankful for my health, and the health of my family.

discovered a new to me artist and am intrigued.

mulling around ideas for fun adventures with my lil sidekick when Christmas break rolls around. museums and iceskating are at the top of the list at the moment.
a friend is coming here to visit for a few days. needless to say this is going to be a good week for eating.
these maple walnuts are fantastic and soooo easy. they make a nice hostess gift too if you are in a pinch.
wow...it's thursday already. i've been scrambling over here. between school stuff for the kid (above is an example of at-home projects i volunteer to do) and trying to squeeze in time to finish up the work for my little side project, i haven't had much time to sit down here to post.
lately my days have been pretty full and busy, but the balance (for the moment!) feels right. my projects at hand are easily placed and prioritized where it needs to be...and this i think has made all the difference for me.
today i just applied to be a vendor at a local gift shop. seriosuly, i finally did it!
as i mentioned in my previous post, this is a first for me. whether my work is accepted or not though, i will continue to create work. i'm very inspired at the moment to create product for some reason, and may even open up my etsy shop again. my long term goal is to create a themed body of work of some kind...but that is going to require a little more thought and time.
i just picked up some supplies to work on another little "product" for one of my images...it's holiday themed so i know there's not much time. i will post an image if it comes out. here's to hoping that production will go smoothly.
i'm tempted to abandon the calendar project because as i mentioned the other day my original idea isn't going to work. we're already into november and i'm realizing that my little calendar project needs more tweaking and time's running out for a time-sensitive project like this. so for now, i decided to not completely abandon it...(check out my possible solution on the bottom right corner of picture above) it might just have to wait until next year.
that's not to say that i haven't been putting my energy into a few other things. i've been in production mode lately working on some fun stuff...a small collection of pieces that i'm hoping to consign. wish me luck because when it comes to selling my work as a product, i am a novice for sure.
am heading out of town tomorrow for the holiday weekend. will be back in this space next week.
took a quick trip down to la and fell in love with these animal sculptures they had on display here. a neat place to bring kids as they have interesting things to see for both big and small.
as far as my calendar project...struggling a bit with the design portion of it and how i can work it with both verticals and horizontals. i don't think my original idea is going to work, so instead of editing images i'm back to brainstorming ideas of how the actual calendar will look. it's all about the process, right?
i think it's safe to say that i enjoy the editing process as much as i like shooting.
