this past weekend my husband took the little guy over to this place for a bit so i could wander carefree over at this event.  i've always wanted to attend this particular fair, but was on the fence about it mostly because i wanted to keep to the spending freeze i put myself on. 
so as you can see from the above photo, i slipped a little on the melted ice...but i justified it because i figured Christmas was really just around the corner and thought i would at least cross one person off my list. 
seriously though, i am so glad i went.  it is truly inspiring to see in person the actual craft and artwork of so many artists that i've only seen online.  and to meet the artist is especially fun as it truly connects you to the artwork and creates a so-called fuller picture when looking at that person's art. 
the beautiful earrings above came from mati rose mcdonough's booth.  i'm familiar with mati rose's work, but now that i've met her in person (she is so sweet and down to earth!!!) i will be following her work and will attempt to catch her show here before it ends. 

give peas a chance

last night i was making some pesto to use up some leftover basil i had in the fridge.  pesto is one of those things i find myself always making from scratch because one, it's pretty darn easy if you have a food processor, and two...and this is a big two....it tastes so good freshly made as opposed to what you can buy at any store.
what i love about pesto aside from it's versatility...pizza, pasta, sandwiches, is that it's easy to mix up the basic recipe as well.  different nuts can be thrown in, a variety of different greens like spinach or arugula can be mixed in, and as i discovered last night, peas added to the basic pesto recipe tastes really fantastic!
adding peas results in a little sweeter tasting pesto...so so so yummy!  just pop in about a cup of rinsed off peas into the processor along with the basil, etc...and pefecto! 
last night i added this to my linguini and topped it off with ripe and ready to eat slices of farmer's market tomatoes.
if you like pesto, you've gotta try this and let me know what you think.

out and about

i'm sorry this is such a lame photo to post...especially since it's been a while.  we've been out and about with consecutive weekends away and some traveling that i'm finding myself really exhausted this week.  i'm not complaining...i am so grateful for the things in my life, but it will take me a little bit to get back into my (somewhat normal) schedule. 

i've been so lazy about taking photos lately...especially when we go away.  i don't know what it is, but i seem to never want to carry my camera around.  though i love creating images, i've always felt that by taking out my camera to take a photo i would often lose the experience of that moment.  sounds weird i know...but i think it's because my brain is wired to think technically as well as  aestetically, so just snapping a quick photo is hard for me to do---it's easier not to i guess.  okay, i guess it doesn't sound that weird not that i explained it all out.

sorry for the ramble...i'm really tired.
this evening i get to watch my little guy play soccer again, so that'll perk me up.   i can't believe how much i love watching him play...it's the fastest half-hour ever for all three of us!
