i can't believe it's wednesday already. 

the past couple of days i've been limiting my time on the computer mostly so i can get some things done around here.  i've been seriously trying to reorganize my time (it never ends!!) so i can actually do some of the things on my list as opposed to always making lists. 

i'm going to take some pressure off of myself by not feeling like i need to post frequently (which sadly is 2-3 times/week for me.)  it's pressure i put on myself i know, but i guess i've been feeling a little unproductive and the computer is really an easy and lazy way for me to spend my time lately.  i'm really feeling the need for a little more balance here.
so...i'm thinking of trying out to see if posting about once a week would work better for me right now. i'll even throw out the idea that i might post two times a day on occasion if i'm feeling like it. it just depends on what's going on and i like the idea of rolling with it and keeping it more loose and spontaneous.   i'm hoping this might in turn make more interesting posts for you to read as well, as opposed to my usual chatter, so i hope you'll stay along for the ride!

anyway, above photo are a few pieces of reproduction wall art that i have hanging above the sofa.  i have to admit, i'm not so crazy over mass-produced wall art, but these i really do love.  when i first saw them in a local shop years ago, i knew right away it was something i wanted to hang in my home.  i seem to really never tire of them...they're very soothing to me.

oh...a note of (kinda sad) news:  this local magazine's headquarters is headed to...Des Moines, Iowa?!?? weird.  i guess even with the increase sales in ads for the DIY magazine, the parent company felt it was a move they needed to make.  i have to say that i think it will be a really different magazine when it moves.  i don't know...we'll see.

gearing up for the weekend

i'm off away for the weekend again and i'll be getting an early start, so i'll see you all next week.  have a great weekend and stay out of trouble.

somehow we've gotten out of the habit of eating oatmeal in the morning.  we're back at it and boy do we miss it.  upper right corner...any photo, design or shelter magazine, plus a notebook or two...i'm set for hours.

i really just couldn't resist. i first saw it here, then headed on over here...then without much hesitation pressed the make payment button to get this one.  no buyer's remorse period.  well, maybe a little. i  figure i'll forgo the next couple of latte drinks.

kind of, sort of new chair

i picked this chair up at my local thrift store a while back and recently took it out of storage to see if i could fit it somewhere in my home.  i have a rule in the back of my mind (that i TRY to stick with anyway) to not buy any furniture unless i have a place for it, but i couldn't resist when i saw on this piece. 
i absolutely fell in love with it the minute i saw it, and knew that i had to have it.  the fabric was in great condition,the one leg in the back was fixable, and i just adore the shape and color of it. plus i'm finding it to be a really comfy chair to sit in. 
originally i was going to place it in the bedroom, but quickly realized that it would just end up being a place to throw clothes onto, so i nixed that idea...who needs more clutter?  so i then moved it into the living room mostly because i was too tired to bring it back downstairs, and  you know what?? i kind of like it there. we really don't have the space for the addition of a sofa chair, but i'm really liking it as a place for me to sit and jot down notes, etc. when i'm not in front of the computer. 
so for now...it's staying put. 
okay, enough rambling about furniture.

i go back and forth on this, really i do.  a schedule.  i'm thinking i need a little more structure and a schedule to get some of the things i want to get done around here.  not a strict schedule, but one that involves a little more planning.  this of course is in hopes to be a little more efficient with my time.  right now my goal is to get up a little earlier, and to stay up a little later (the latter being a little more challenging for me.)  i'll be sure to let you know how it's going.

this is what happens when you reach a certain milestone and want to prove to yourself that you are still physically able.  i'm glad i didn't break an ankle. seriously.

remember this project?  so easy and fun it's almost criminal.
i think the next batch instead of mixing a rainbow of colors, i'll try a different color palette for each heart.  i may even experiment with different shapes...the possibilities are endless.

40

this week i'll be turning 40.  as a gift to myself this year, i'm going to be more open.  open to trying and learning new things, open to starting projects while giving myself permission to feeling okay about the ones that i don't finish, and open to putting myself out there a little more in regards to my photography work.  whew!  this all sounds a little daunting as i'm typing it, but i'm up for the challenge... the time just feels so right.
