i almost gave up on the idea of creating postcards until i took these two shots this past weekend. my reasoning against the postcard was mostly because i was printing and trimming them on my own, and it was really time consuming for something that is more practical to have a printing service take care of. on top of that i knew it wasn't cost effective using my own printer.
i'm so used to printing my own images, that i find it hard to give up that control...mostly because i've found in the past that i'm usually not happy with the service and/or quality of the few labs we have around here.
so back to the postcards. i really love postcards for their simplicity and affordability. i love sending them, and i love getting them. i decided to test this online printing service with one of the images above, so i'm crossing my fingers that i'll like what i see when i get them. if all goes well, i plan to send the other image to be printed so i can package them together as a duo. i think they (excuse the pun) pair well together, so i'm thinking of printing them together as a diptic as well, and possibly printing them individually.
anyway, i can already feel the crunch as the holidays are fast approaching. i have a small list of art and craft projects i want to tackle, with an advent calendar on the top of my list. taking a deep breath and trying to simplify and not be overwhelmed by the frenzy that the holidays can bring. focusing on accomplishing what is manageable and enjoyable for me right now.
speaking of focusing on things that are enjoyable, i'm loving these little guys right now as i think they are sweet reminders of the season to come. lisa solomon is the creator behind these, and following her blog gives you a glimpse of a true working artist. her work is articulate and thoughtful, and it's always inspiring to see her projects come to life, whether it be baby booties for a friend or an art installation.
alrighty, i'm off to do a little brainstorming...and of course some blog reading!
